A police officer attached to Kikuyu Police station in Kiambu, on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, was arrested after he snatched the Occurrence Book (OB) and ran away with it towards Kiambu town.
Constable Marcel Wekesa who is suspected to have been intoxicated reported for duty armed with his AK-47 riffle loaded with 30 rounds of 7.52mm special.
At about 9:30 pm, Wekesa is reported to have gone outside the gate of the station where he started harassing members of the public, cocking the rifle and threatening to kill them.
His colleagues at the station were informed and he was disarmed and booked in.
“Marcel Wekesa reported to duty in the evening while armed with an AK 47 riffle serial number 26437 loaded with thirty rounds of 7.52mm special. At about 2130hrs, the officer went outside the station gate and started harassing members of the public and threatening to kill them,” the police report stated.
After a short while, Wekesa grabbed the Occurrence Book from the report desk and ran away with it towards town.
He was caught up with the OB in Makutano area and it was recovered with a page of it having been partially torn.
He was arrested and placed in custody as the police launched a further probe.
In a separate incident, a General Service Unit (GSU) officer attached to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) was on Thursday, September 22, 2022, arrested after he allegedly assaulted a police constable whom they reside in the same compound.
The suspect identified as James Lutoma caused bodily harm to Paul Kithaka by stabbing him in the stomach using a kitchen knife while at their residence.
“Lutoma is being held for the offence of assault causing bodily harm to Kithaka after he stabbed him on the stomach with a kitchen knife while at their residence,” the police report seen by K24 Digital reads.
The victim sustained serious bodily injuries and was rushed to Nairobi West Hospital where he is admitted in a stable condition.
The police recovered a blood-stained kitchen knife which is being used as an exhibit while the suspect is placed in custody.
