A Kibera court has detained Kithuka Kimunyi Musyimi for 14 days to enable the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to complete investigations surrounding the murder of a GSU officer, Ramadhan Khamisi Matanka.

According to a miscellaneous application lodged at Kibera Law Courts on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Musyimi is a person of interest in the murder of officer Khamisi, who was killed on Monday, October 13, 2025, as he was manning a search barrier along Dennis Pritt Road near State House gate D.

The application reveals that Musyimi was arrested along the same road near the Statehouse gate D while armed with a bow and arrows that had been concealed in a blue sack, posing as a street dweller advancing towards a GSU officer manning the search barrier.

Through a supporting affidavit, Officer Bashir Boya, attached at Kilimani DCI, also stated that Musyimi attacked the GSU officer by shooting him with an arrow on his left chest, which led to massive bleeding.

The officer was immediately rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for treatment, but he later succumbed to injury while undergoing treatment.

“The respondent (Musyimi) shot and injured the officer who was on duty, causing him serious injuries on the left side of his chest that resulted in massive bleeding,” part of the application read.

The State told the court that the person of interest in the murder is a flight risk since he has no known abode and his workplace is not known; thus, there is a need to detain him for 14 days to complete their investigations.

Kibera Principal Magistrate Christine Njagi has granted the State the 14 days they had sought and ordered that Musyimi be detained at the Kilimani Police Station.

Additionally, she has ordered that he be escorted to KNH for a mental assessment to ascertain if he is fit to be charged.

“It has been proven to this honourable court on oath that for the purpose of investigations into the reported murder, it is desirable and necessary to issue a custodial order authorising the detention of the respondent (Musyimi) at the Kilimani Police Station to allow DCI to complete investigations into the matter.” Magistrate Njagi ruled
