The Canadian government says there are no special programs for Kenyans seeking to migrate to the country in search of greener pastures.
In a statement, moments after Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua suggested that his ministry and Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada Sean Fraser had agreed on various migration opportunity pathways available for Kenyans, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC ), insisted that the referenced programs do not exist.
For accurate information, the department said, Kenyans should visit their website.
“Disinformation is circulating which suggests that special programs are welcoming Kenyan immigrants. This is false, and the immigration programs referenced do not exist. For accurate information on how to immigrate, visit http://Canada.ca/immigration,” IRCC said in a tweet.

Mutua, who recently concluded an official tour in the country, had earlier indicated that he had noted various opportunities for Kenyans to go and live or work in Canada.
“I was pleased to note that there are job opportunities within various economic sectors across Canada and Kenyans can travel to Canada as students, tourists and as workers,” he said.
The CS said there were more jobs in Canada than available workers.
“Canada has more employment opportunities than available people to work and we agreed that Kenya can help fill that gap,” he said.
“The process for those who wish to go to Canada is simple but requires one to be diligent.”
He added that the Kenyan government is in deep negotiations with their counterparts in Canada and will be providing a comprehensive statement within the next few days “with guidance and links agreed upon between the Kenyan and the Canadian Government so that Kenyans can apply for migration or job visas”.
At the same time, the former governor of Machakos County urged Kenyans to be on high alert for conmen purporting to help Kenyans migrate to Canada.
“In the meantime, please be careful and of wary of agencies that say they are recruiting for Canadian firms,” Mutua warned.
“We are aware that some Kenyans have been conned by some agencies and you therefore need to be careful so that you are not swindled.”
