Police are investigating the death of a 12-year-old boy whose body was found dangling from a tree in Rachuonyo North East Sub County, Homa Bay County.
The Class Seven boy identified as Felix Odhiambo Okech is said to have committed suicide in a bush away from their home on Saturday evening.
He had been sent to untie his father’s goats when he failed to return home in the evening.
The deceased’s father Michael Okech said the family suspects the boy, who schooled at Dudi Primary School, committed suicide by hanging himself after he found one of the goats dead.
Apparently, the boy used a rope from the dead goat to hang himself.
According to the father, Odhiambo may have acted out of fear.
Police in Homa Bay confirm
Rachuonyo East Sub-County Police Commander Justus Kucha confirmed the incident, saying police are yet to establish the reason why the minor decided to end his life.
The body of the deceased is lying at Rachuonyo South Sub County Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
