Residents of Emusanda, Botsoso in Kakamega county were left in shock after three suspected thieves were attacked by a swarm of bees before surrendering.

It is reported that 42-year-old Imbiakha Tolibert whose female brown calf and a goat had been stolen sought a witch doctor’s help to recover the cattle leading to the incident.

According to a police report, the traditional medicine men performed a ritual in the cowshed and the goat’s pen respectively before recovering the lost cattle.

After the ritual, three young men; Hillary Momanyi aged 22, John Bukhazio aged 28 and Winston Mutiele aged 20, all from Mumias East Subcounty emerged with the stolen goat and the calf that the owner identified positively.

“At around 10.00hrs, three youths emerged having been attacked by a swarm of bees on their hands and in possession of the cow, while one of them was carrying a goat on his shoulders and bleating like a goat,” part of the report read.

Upon recovery, the medicine men administered some herbs to them and the bees disappeared.

The three were then taken to Kakamega police station awaiting to be arraigned on charges of theft.
