Interior Ministry employee is the latest victim of ‘drink spiking’, a vice that has gained notoriety in several parts of the country in recent months.

The man, who is fighting for his life in hospital, had his drink laced with an unknown substance by a female lover at a popular joint in Murang’a County on Saturday night May 28, 2022.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the victim had walked to Small Villa gardens at Kenol on Saturday evening, accompanied by the woman with whom they enjoyed drinks.

A man is fighting for his life at a hospital in Murang’a county, after a drink he was taking was laced with an unknown substance by a female lover, rendering him unconscious.
Little did he know that the woman had hatched an evil scheme to milk his bank accounts dry.
Later at around 11:00 pm, the man passed out as the observant waiters saw the lass gathering his belongings including ATM cards, Identity cards and mobile phones.
Alarmed, they alerted their manager who called the Officer Commanding Kenol Police station, who responded immediately.
The man, who had fallen unconscious, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The police managed to arrest the woman who has since been identified as Alice Wangechi.
The 37-year-old was booked at Kenol police station on stupefying charges and the man’s documents were recovered from her.
Last week, DCI unmasked 12 women said to be part of a larger criminal syndicate involved in drugging gullible male revellers before emptying their bank and mobile money accounts.
Police believe the women were employed by slain thug Samuel Mugo Muvota.
The unmasking came after a series of exposés on how the slain thug built his business empire consisting of real estate properties from proceeds of crime.
DCI noted that the drug used to spike drinks known as ‘Tamuu’ is a depressant used to treat mental patients.
The drug has adverse effects especially when administered to men with pre-existing medical conditions such as high blood pressure.
