8-hour blackout to affect parts of the country on Monday

Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of the scheduled power blackout in select parts of the country on Monday, February 26, 2024.

The utility firm in a notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade power lines to the network.

“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.),” Kenya Power said.

The utility firm noted that the Monday power interruption will affect many parts of Meru County from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include; Maua Town, Athi, Kimongoro, Igembe T/Fact, Kiegoi T/Fact, Athiru Gaiti, Luluma, Nyambene Hosp, Methodist Hospital KWS, Kiengu, Kinna, Garbatula, Kula Mawe, Kiutine, Karichu, Kaboito, Rhino Camp, Kangeta Prison, Njia Boys, Kathelwa Laare, Mutuati, Kabachi, K.K Market, Antuabetwe, Kamukunji, China State Buulu & adjacent customers.

Other areas include; Part of Kinoru Est, Njeru Industries, Terahs, KCB Makutano, Kenya Re Est, Kambakia Sisters, Jordan Hosp, Gitoro Pri, Rocky, Mboroga, Sera Park Hotel, Kiirua Police, Kirachine, Kiirua Hosp & Mkt, Kiirua Technical, Ntugi Area & Mkt, Machaka, Kinyenjere, Marinya & adjacent customers.
