Four thugs break into apartment, hold guards captive before stealing Ksh606K from tenants

Two guards of a residential apartment in Springvalley, Nairobi were on Sunday, September 25, 2022, placed in custody and are helping the police to conduct investigations after they were held captive by robbers who went away with approximately ksh606,000 from two residents of the apartment.

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, one of the victims identified as Ashit Shah drove into the residence and was ushered in by strangers who held the guards captive.

The three robbers who were armed with a pistol then ordered him to lead them to his house where they robbed him of cash ksh500,000 and jewelry of unknown value.

They then ordered him to take them to the next neighbouring house of the second victim identified as Nihal Shah and they robbed him of cash of ksh70,000, 300vUS dollars, and jewelry of unknown value.

“While driving to his residence, Ashit reported that he was ushered in by strangers armed with a pistol and had been taken captive by his two guards. They ordered him to the house and robbed him of cash, ksh 500,000 and jewelry of unknown value. Ashit was then ordered to take them to his neighbor’s house where they robbed him of cash, ksh70,000, 300 US dollars and jewelry of unknown value,” the police report stated.

The trio then escaped to a nearby bush across river Mwamuto.

The two guards identified as Haron Maiga and Zephania Ratemo are in custody helping the police with the investigation.

Elsewhere in a separate incident, an unknown number of thieves made away with unknown quantity of construction material of unknown value at a construction site along Shimo la Tewa road in the industrial area of Nairobi.

The thugs are reported to have made their way into the site through the pedestrian gate after they tied the guards of the site who were on duty before forcing their way in.

The supervisor of the guards had responded to an alarm that had gone on and when he got to the site, it was then that he found the guards in the basement of the site, tied their legs and hands.

The thieves loaded the material into two lorries whose registration numbers were not captured.
