Ksh3M in the pocket! Tusker stun Kenya Police to win FKF Cup
By Luke Oluoch, June 14, 2026Tusker FC has claimed the lucrative 2026 Football Kenya Federation KSh3 million prize money after edging Kenya Police FC 2-1 in a thrilling finale played in Kwale on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
The encounter was decided by a stylish first-half brace from Ian Simiyu to seal a first title for French coach Jullien Mette. The former NSL star got the Brewers upfront in the 29th minute before sealing his brace with a shot that evaded Police custodian Daniel Ogembo.
Harambee Stars and Police defender Abud Omar bagged the equaliser, bagging another set-piece goal for the umpteenth time in the history of the 2026 edition.
Omar’s strike, however, counted as a mere consolation for Kenya Police, the competition’s 2024 winners, who saw their journey to reclaim the premier cup competition end in heartbreak.
The versatile ace was fittingly recognised as the defender of the tournament after a fine run in the competition.

Buoyed by reclaiming their lead after Simiyu’s second, Mette’s side opted to valiantly defend their lead as they frustrated Nicholas Muyoti’s team. They had late forays to snatch the leveller, but Tusker’s Pvaelh Ndzila remained solid in the team’s last line of defense.
The victory assured the team of the financial reward of KSh 3 million that awaited the edition’s winner as police settled for the runner-up’s position.

Earlier, Bandari FC clinched the third-place playoff spot in the 2026 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup after edging KCB 2-0 at the same venue.
By virtue of their triumph, Brewers will now represent Kenya in the CAF Confederation Cup, taking over from Nairobi United, who beat Gor Mahia to the 2025 finals.
The Kwale finale officially closed the curtain on an eventful season that culminated with Gor Mahia crowned the league champions and Tusker as the FKF Cup champions.
Tusker’s skipper Charles Momanyi was the man tasked with hauling the trophy high as the Ruaraka-based club celebrated a season of rare triumph highlighted by both their resilience and resurgence
