Tupatane fainali! BB Bread’s star makes bold claim after eliminating Gor Mahia from FKF Cup

By , March 8, 2026

BB Bread midfielder Dennis Muthini has voiced the team’s intention to seal a maiden final appearance in the premier knockout competition after slaying Gor Mahia in the round of 32 meeting on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The Kàyole-based team added the runaway league leaders to their casualty list weeks after serving a similar upset to AFC Leopards in the preliminary stages at the same venue.

Muthini, who stepped off the substitute bench to score the priceless winner, shared the secret to the team’s impressive run that has inspired the giant-killing run.

“We always push ourselves harder with each game and opponent. We entered the competition knowing it wouldn’t be easy, as we would meet such big teams as Leopards and Gor Mahia,” he stated.

Coaches impact

The attacking midfielder also hailed their coach’s input in their giant-killing run, asserting that they hardly could have made the feats without the trainer’s invaluable input.

“We can only credit our coaches for the game plans and strategies we have used to approach the games.

With the victory securing their berth in the round of 16 games, Muthini says the club now looks to last all the coming rounds and grace the competition finals scheduled for the middle of the year.

Eyes on the Finals

“For the next game after eliminating Gor and AFC, let us next meet in the finals. We want to make it to the finals and play the deciding game,” he stated.

During the clash, the minnows’ side saved the best for last, with Muthini’s 84th-minute goal serving as the bitter exit to the FKF PL side.

For Gor, the heartbreaking end sealed a second unsuccessful stab at the cup following the final defeat to Nairobi United in the 2025 finals.

Meanwhile, FKF PL sides Kenya Police, Tusker FC, Kakamega Homeboyz, Shabana—who edged Muhoroni Youth—and Murang’a Seal, all qualified for the Round of 16.
