Shabana secure a narrow win to storm FKF Cup quarters

By , April 11, 2026

Shabana FC has become the latest Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side to advance to the last eight of the cup competition after

The Glamour Boys put aside their league struggles to edge Kuta Collections 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter at Waguru Stadium in Kirinyaga County to book their place in the last eight at the expense of the only non-league side left standing in the competition.

Michira gets Shabana over the line

Andrew Ongwae retained much of his star in the clash as he stepped up their chase of the domestic cup, coming off a faltering run in the league front.

The Gusii-based side, however, found proceedings tough against a determined host’s astute defensive line.

The decisive moment came from Brian Michira’s strike following a brilliant delivery from Brian Kiprono.

Mfalme shocks Murang’a Seal

Shabana’s victory followed after Eldoret-based Mfalme FC served the day’s shocker by bundling FKF Premier League side Murang’a Seal out of the FKF Cup.

The FKF Division One outfit thrashed Seals 5-1 in a one-sided encounter at the Eldoret Showgrounds on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Barely a day after fellow giant-killers BB Bread FC crashed out of the tournament, the Eldoret club took up the honours by securing an emphatic win to storm into the competition’s quarterfinals at the expense of Osborne Monday’s charges.

Amos Kanyere and Payai Arok each grabbed a brace to add to Felix Ochieng’s goal in the one-sided triumph.

Kanyere stormed the hosts to a fifth-minute lead before Ochieng made it two-nil before the break.

Arok puts Seal to the sword

Arok returned to haunt Osborne’s side after the break, dispatching a peach of a free-kick for Mfalme’s third goal just ten minutes after the restart. He wasn’t finished there; he soon scored his second of the day from inside the box, effectively ending the tie as a contest.

Qualified teams

The Buffaloes now join heavyweights Tusker FC and Kenya Police, who eliminated BB Bread FC on Friday, April 10, 2026, to storm the competition’s last eight.

Both Police and Julien Mette’s lads claimed 1-0 wins in their respective encounters on Friday to advance.

Tusker’s quarters progression came after a narrow 1–0 win over Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Stadium.
