Pools and match schedule released for 2026 Prinsloo 7s as National Sevens Circuit begins
By Joel Masibo, July 25, 2026The countdown to the 2026 National Sevens Circuit is complete, with organisers confirming the pool draws and match schedule for the 17th edition of the Prinsloo 7s. The tournament will be staged at Nakuru Athletics Club on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26, 2026, marking the opening leg of this year’s national sevens campaign.
A total of 40 teams will compete across three categories. The men’s Division One and Division Two competitions will each feature 16 teams, while the women’s tournament will include eight teams.
Division One
Former champions and title hopefuls Kabras Sugar headline Pool A, where they have been grouped with Kenya Harlequin, Mwamba RFC, and Embu RFC.
Pool B is dominated by university sides, with Strathmore Leos, Daystar Falcons, and MMUST RFC joined by Kisumu RFC, the only non-university club in the group.
Defending champions KCB Rugby begin their title defense in Pool C against CUEA Monks, Nondescripts RFC, and NYS Spades.
Hosts Nakuru RFC have been placed in Pool D alongside Menengai Oilers, Impala RFC, and Blak Blad RFC in what promises to be a highly competitive group.
Division Two
The revamped Division Two competition also gets underway with 16 clubs split into four pools.
Pool A consists of Makueni Ravens, KCA University, Kabarak University, and NYS Scorpions.
Pool B features Zetech Oaks, MKU Thika, Nandi Bears, and UOE Trojans.
Homeboyz Rugby, Northern Suburbs, Kitale Rugby, and Egerton Wasps make up Pool C.
Pool D includes AP Warriors, Stallions Rugby, Eldopoly Community, and Molo Rugby Club.
Women’s tournament
Eight teams will battle for top honors in the women’s competition.
Pool A brings together Mwamba RFC, Impala RFC, NYS Ladies, and Nakuru Women.
Pool B features Northern Suburbs, Kenya Harlequin, Kiambaa Ladies, and Pioneer Ladies.
The release of the pools and match schedule officially sets the stage for the opening round of the 2026 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit, with Nakuru expected to host two days of competitive rugby as teams begin their quest for circuit points and early momentum in the season.
