By Joel Masibo, January 27, 2026A football Kenya Federation Premier League tie pitting debutants APS Bomet and Nairobi United, initially scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Nyayo National Stadium, has been postponed to a later date.
Based on a statement issued by APS Bomet on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the move was made to allow Naibois to honour their CAF Confederation Cup assignments. Godfrey Oduoar’s men will visit Azam FC for a Group B second-leg tie in Zanzibar on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
The law enforcers will instead shift their focus to Murang’a SEAL’s test at the weekend, a week after holding Shabana FC to a 3-3 draw in Kericho on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

”0ur match against Nairobi United is taking a backseat for a moment while they compete in CAF. We’ll see them on the pitch next week!
In the meantime, the mission has not changed. We are shifting gears and heading straight for Murang’a Seal this weekend. Get ready, APS Bomet fans—we need your energy!” The statement said.
Continental woes
Continentally, Nairobi United’s campaign at CAF Confederation looks bleak as Tanzania’s Azam FC secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over them in an entertaining encounter that was decided by a dramatic own goal late in the second half in a Group B encounter at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Following the defeat at home, Nairobi United remain rooted at the bottom of Group B with zero points in three outings, further complicating their chances of reaching the knockout stages of the competition in their debut season, after starting the journey on a higher note by knocking out African giants in the preliminaries.
Nairobi United made a bright start and took the lead in the 13th minute through Dancan Omala, who struck from outside the box after a fast break assisted by Michael Karamor.

Azam responded quickly, equalising in the 17th minute when Jephté Kitambala finished calmly from the centre of the box following a pass from Yoro Diaby.
Tight contention
The match remained tightly contested with both sides creating chances. Azam came close on several occasions through Kitambala and Iddi Selemani, while Nairobi United threatened on the counter. Goalkeepers Zuberi Foba and Ernest Mohammed were kept busy with important saves.
The decisive moment came in the 78th minute. After Himid Mao hit the post, the rebound deflected off Nairobi United goalkeeper Ernest Mohammed and into the net for an own goal, giving Azam a 2–1 lead.
