Liam Rosenior provides Chelsea injury update ahead of Man City’s cracker
By Joel Masibo, April 12, 2026Chelsea FC head coach Liam Rosenior has revealed there are no additional injury worries ahead of their upcoming clash with Manchester City on Sunday, April 12, 2025, although Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill, and Reece James are still not fit enough to be involved.
Clash at the Bridge
The Blues are set to host Pep Guardiola’s men at Stamford Bridge, riding high after a dominant 7-0 triumph over Port Vale that sealed their progression to the FA Cup semi-finals. Rosenior is optimistic that the emphatic result can act as a catalyst for improved league performances, as the team looks to register their first win over City in five years since that memorable Champions League encounter in Porto.

There is positive news regarding Estevao Willian, who is available for selection after completing the full match against Port Vale and earning Player of the Match honours. However, Enzo Fernandez will not feature in the fixture, as previously anticipated.
Providing an update, Rosenior said: “There are no new updates, but the positive is Estevao having 90 against Port Vale.”
He added: “Otherwise it’s the same really. Trevoh (Chalobah) is working really hard and is back on the pitch. Levi (Colwill) is training but still has some hurdles to overcome first, and Reece (James) has been running today. None of them will be ready for Man City but they are working well.
“We have a good squad and they look really, really good. I know it was a game we were expected to win, but the way we went about things against Port Vale was very good and hopefully that springboards the rest of our run-in,” he said.
Enzo out
Meanwhile, Chelsea has upheld Enzo Fernández’s two-game club-imposed ban, despite the midfielder tendering an apology for comments relating to a potential future in Madrid.

Liam Rosenior clarified on Friday, April 10, 2026, that the player will not be part of the squad for the crunch tie against Manchester City, who are firmly in the title race with leaders Arsenal, who slipped on Saturday against Bournemouth with a 2-1 defeat at home.
Rosenior revealed that the Argentine had apologised both personally and to the club.
Serious matter
“He has apologised to the club and to me. I will deal with that after the massive game on Sunday,” he stated. “It was not about me, but a serious matter for the club. I am not questioning Enzo’s character or who he is as a person; I believe people make mistakes. We made a sanction and a decision.”
Rosenior further downplayed how the club might be impacted by the absence of the influential midfielder, who has also captained the team on several occasions, amid a growing injury list.
