Gor Mahia fans engage in early celebrations in Nairobi CBD ahead of FKF PL title coronation
Nairobi Archives was a hive of activity on Sunday, May 31, 2026, as Gor Mahia fans and those of the club’s persuasion embarked on early celebration ahead of the official crowning of the new Kenyan champions.
The fans started streaming at the famous spot near the Tom Mboya effigy at around noon with songs and dances rending the air as others warmed their musical drums and other instruments ahead of their triumphant trip to Nyayo National Stadium.
FKF finale
Charles Akonor’s team hosts Nairobi United this Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 3:00 pm as the FKF PL league marks its climax before being presented with the league crown later in the day.
As part of the process for the final crowning moment, the fans resumed their long-held tradition of a pilgrimage to the renowned statue prior to their calvary to the match venue.
Gor reclaimed the title after losing it to Kenya Police FC in 2025. They also lost the FKF Cup in the final against their match-day opponents.

The club bounced back in the season, shrugging off fierce challenges from perennial arch rivals AFC Leopards to bag the prize with two games left to the concluded season.
Gor urges decorum
In a statement released on Saturday, May 30, 2026, before Gor Mahia’s coronation, organisers urged supporters to familiarise themselves with the designated seating arrangements and stadium access regulations to ensure smooth entry and crowd management.
“Please take note of the seating arrangements for the Gor Mahia FC versus Nairobi United FC match. Fans are also advised that there will be no parking allocation at Nyayo Stadium. Kindly plan your travel accordingly,” the organisers stated on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
In other fixtures, Tusker will take on APS Bomet at Wang’uru Stadium, while Mathare United faces Bandari at Green Stadium in Kericho.
AFC Leopards will be in action against Bidco United at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, with Posta Rangers welcoming Ulinzi Stars at the Vapor Grounds.
Shabana will meet KCB at Green Stadium in Awendo as both sides look to end their campaigns on a positive note.
At Kasarani Annex, Kariobangi Sharks are set to clash with Sofapaka, while Murang’a Seal host Mara Sugar at SportPesa Arena.
The final fixture of the day will see Kenya Police face Kakamega Homeboyz at Police Sacco Stadium.
