Abdalla Juma: Former AFC Leopards, Chemelil Sugar and Thika United coach is dead
By Joel Masibo, July 24, 2026Former AFC Leopards, Thika United, KCB FC, Bidco United, Vihiga Bullets, Chemelil Sugar, Murang’a Seal and Western Stima head coach Juma Abdalla has passed away after a battle with illness.
In a statement on Friday, July 24, 2026, Football Kenya Federation outfit and the former tactician’s employer, Murang’a SEAL, confirmed the development.
“The final whistle has blown for one of football’s devoted servants. We are deeply saddened by the passing of our former Head Coach Juma Abdalla.
“A respected leader, mentor, and passionate football man, Coach Juma left an indelible mark on our club and the many lives he touched throughout his career,” the statement read in part.
“As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life dedicated to shaping players, inspiring teams, and serving the game he loved. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, former players, and the entire football fraternity. May his legacy continue to inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, Coach Juma Abdalla.” The statement said.
Condolences
Shortly after Juma’s passing was confirmed on Friday, tributes from Kenya’s football fraternity poured in, led by Murang’a SEAL and Bandari FC.
On its part, Bandari FC said: “The Bandari Football Club family is deeply saddened by the passing of Coach Abdalla Juma. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, former players, and the entire football fraternity during this difficult time. His passion, dedication, and contribution to the beautiful game will forever be remembered. May his legacy continue to inspire generations, and may his soul rest in eternal peace. Rest in Peace, Coach.”
The FKF said, “FKF joins the football fraternity in mourning the passing of coach Juma Abdalla. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, former players, and everyone whose lives he touched through the beautiful game. May his legacy continue to inspire generations, and may his soul rest in eternal peace. Rest in peace, coach.”
In one of his latest interviews, coach Juma Abdalla publicly admitted that match-fixing exists in the Kenyan Premier League. “It is among the referees, players and even the federation,” he said.
