Kenyan teams face uphill task as African Volleyball Club Championship enters crucial stage
By Joel Masibo, April 26, 2026Kenyan clubs will once again be under the spotlight as the 2026 Men’s African Volleyball Club Championship enters day five, with a packed schedule set for Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Petit Stade and BK Arena in Rwanda.
With the tournament gaining momentum, teams are now edging closer to the decisive knockout stages, making every match crucial, particularly for Kenyan sides aiming to stamp their authority on the continental stage.
Kenyan trio headline the day
Kenya will have three representatives in action, each facing tricky opposition in what promises to be a demanding day.
The first Kenyan side to step onto the court will be General Service Unit (GSU), who face Burundi’s Rukinzo at 10:00 am local time at Petit Stade.
At midday, Equity Bank Volleyball Club will take on Cameroon Sports (CSV) in what is expected to be a tightly contested encounter.

Later in the evening, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) will wrap up the Kenyan action with a clash against Tanzania’s Prisons Volleyball Club at 6:00 pm.
Full Day Five lineup
The day’s fixtures at Petit Stade will kick off with GSU versus Rukinzo, followed by Cameroon Sports against Equity Bank. Other matches at the venue include Port Autonome de Douala facing Kalibi Sporting Club, Faith Union Sport taking on Wolaitta Dicha, and the evening clash between Prisons Tanzania and KPA. The late match will see Rwanda’s APR go up against Nigeria Customs Service.
At BK Arena, the action will run concurrently with six fixtures lined up, including AS INJS against Sport-S, Petrojet versus Litto Team, and a highly anticipated showdown between Rwanda’s Kepler Volleyball Club and Egyptian giants Al Ahly. Hosts Rwanda Energy Group will also be in action against Atlético Clube do Mindelo, while Nemo Stars face Zimbabwe’s Black Rhinos in the final match of the day.

Stakes rising
With teams jostling for favourable positions heading into the knockout rounds, day five could prove decisive in shaping the tournament’s trajectory. For Kenyan sides, strong performances will not only boost their qualification hopes but also reaffirm the country’s growing reputation in African volleyball.
All eyes will now be on GSU, Equity Bank, and KPA as they carry Kenya’s hopes into another action-packed day of continental competition.
