Kenya Army stun Western Prisons as joint KVF National League gets underway

Stunning comeback
The soldiers showed immense resilience, rallying from two sets down to clinch a hard-fought 3-2 victory. Western Prisons had taken early control of the match, comfortably winning the opening two sets, 25-21 and 25-14, to put Kenya Army on the brink of defeat.
However, the Kenya Army responded with renewed energy and determination in the third set, edging it 25-22 to keep their hopes alive. They carried that momentum into the fourth set, once again winning 25-22 to force a decisive fifth set.
In the final set, Kenya Army dominated proceedings, sealing the comeback in emphatic fashion with a 15-4 win to complete one of the most dramatic turnarounds in the competition.

The victory provides a significant boost for Kenya Army, who are currently placed 11th in the league standings. Meanwhile, Western Prisons, who will rue missed opportunities after their strong start, sit 13th.
Thursday schedule
The next fixture of the day in men’s category will see Trailblazers will take on National Youth Service in another men’s encounter. Attention then shifts to the women’s category at midday, where Prisons Kenya face off with Kenyatta University at 12:00 pm. The women’s fixtures continue at 2:00 pm, with Young Spykers battling A-Plus VC in what promises to be a closely contested tie.
The evening session returns to men’s action, as KAPU lock horns with Prisons Rift Valley at 4:00 pm, before General Service Unit (GSU) wrap up the day against Eldoret Water at 6:00 pm.
Organisers have set entry fees at Ksh200 for regular tickets and Ksh500 for VIP access, inviting volleyball enthusiasts to turn up in large numbers and support their favourite teams.
The joint leg marks a key phase in the KVF National League calendar, providing teams with an opportunity to solidify their positions as the race for top honours gathers momentum.
