In-form Shumah speaks out after notching 18th goal in Zambia

There is little doubt that Moses Shumah is making waves in his debut season in the Zambian top flight.
While the Super League has long been a playground for Kenyan excellence, graced by the likes of David ‘Calabar’ Owino, Jesse Were, and John Makwata, Shumah’s current trajectory is threatening to eclipse them all.
If his prolific goalscoring form is any indication, he is on the verge of setting a new gold standard for Kenyans in Zambia.
The striker marked a new scoring feat in Zambia on Saturday, April 11, 2026, as the reigning champions Power Dynamos edged Nkana FC in the Zambian top-tier league meeting.
The former Kakamega Homeboyz poacher scored the decisive goal as Dynamos claimed the all-important win to cement their lead and continue their title charge.

With that goal, the Kenyan striker matched Idriss Mbombo’s 2018 record—a scoring milestone that had stood unchallenged in the country’s top flight for nearly a decade.
Improvement form last season
Shumah has, however, remained grounded amid the success, asserting that his focus is firmly on self-improvement and achieving the overall team objectives.
“I did not know the record, but I can say I feel good. My aim was to beat last season’s record; I scored 17 goals, so this season I was trying to beat that. On my own, I am improving as an individual, and also if you score such a number, it means you are pushing your team somewhere better,” he said in an interview with a Zambian portal, Bolanews.
With AbaYellow closing in on a successful title defense—now sitting seven points clear at the top with 58 points from 26 matches—the all-time scoring record remains within reach for the unstoppable Kenyan hitman in the remaining eight games.
FKF PL 2024/25 tally
He has already equalled the haul that clinched the Kenyan Premier League Golden Boot last season with Homeboyz and earned him his maiden professional stint, and at eighteen goals with eight games to spare, it remains to be seen how many goals the Kenyan will stop at.
In his maiden season in Zambia, the striker could win the coveted Golden Boot and league Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards.
