FKF welcomes EACC’s investigation into CHAN insurance scandal
By Joel Masibo, April 28, 2026The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed that officials from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) visited its offices on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, as part of ongoing investigations into the Ksh42 million African Nations Championship (2024 CHAN) insurance matter.
In a statement released on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the federation said it had fully engaged with the visiting officers and reaffirmed its willingness to cooperate with the inquiry process. FKF emphasised that it remains committed to upholding transparency, accountability, and adherence to proper governance structures as investigations continue.
KFK’s cooperation
“The federation duly engaged with the officers and reiterated its commitment to fully support the process,” the statement read in part, highlighting its readiness to work with relevant investigative and oversight bodies.

The probe is linked to concerns surrounding insurance arrangements for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), a matter that has recently drawn scrutiny within Kenyan football circles. FKF, however, maintained that it is prepared to see the process through in accordance with legal and governance frameworks.
Commenting on the development, FKF President Hussein Mohammed welcomed the involvement of the anti-corruption agency and expressed confidence in the integrity of the process.
Hussein’s reaction
“We welcome the involvement of the EACC and reaffirm our full cooperation with the process. As a federation, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency,” said Mohammed.
He added that FKF believes a “fair and thorough process” will ultimately establish the facts, noting that the federation will continue to support efforts aimed at safeguarding accountability within the sport.

”We are confident that the facts will come to light through a fair and thorough process, and we will continue to support all efforts aimed at safeguarding accountability within Kenyan football,” Mohammed added. FKF further assured stakeholders that it will provide updates as necessary as the investigations progress, signaling its intention to remain open throughout the process.
Meanwhile, Hussein Mohammed has dismissed allegations surrounding the said funds embezzlement. Speaking to the media on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Goal Project hours after his suspension from office by the FKF National Executive Committee members, the FKF boss clarified that the procurement of the insurance policy was not handled by FKF but by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), in line with established tournament protocols.
