FKF PL upsets continue as Shabana succumb to Kariobangi Sharks’ attack
By Luke Oluoch, March 15, 2026The Football Kenya Federation Premier League fixtures have served up yet another stunning upset, with Shabana FC suffering a shock defeat to visiting Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 in a duel at the Gusii Stadium on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
William Muluya’s side scored two quick-fire goals inside the final quarter to inflict the painful defeat on the home team, who had taken the lead via Brian Michira’s strike.
Huge blow
The defeat sealed a crushing blow coming days after the club fancied the prospect of shooting to second place in the FKF PL standings after AFC Leopards lost to Mathare United in another league upset on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Nyayo Stadium.
The defeat leaves Shabana in third, with the prospect of catching up with leaders Gor Mahia also suffering a huge dent.
Austine Odongo, nicknamed Last Born, was among those guilty of a missed opportunity after squandering a goal-scoring chance at the half-hour mark.
Peter Okidi resumed the final half on twin changes with changes.
Michira’s opener
Keith Imbali and Assis Mambote entered the feat as Odongo was sent to the bench.

The hosts finally broke the deadlock ten minutes later through Brian Michira. The attacker’s brilliant lob beating Sebastianos Wekesa at goal for his seventh league goal.
Sharks hit back
Sharks replicated a similar fightback witnessed during Mathare United’s week 24 encounter against AFC Leopards a day earlier.
Tricky customer Razel Omondi hit back within a couple of minutes after Shabana’s opener as Sharks fought back in the tie.
The goal sparked a dramatic end to the encounter, with Mark Vivian Kesa doubling the lead immediately after the restart in a surreal two minutes for the visitors.
With the victory, Sharks breathed more life into their bid to escape relegation in the season. Despite maintaining their spot at 14th, the team opened a five-point buffer between them and the three relegation-threatened teams
