Gor Mahia FC’s quest for the league title has been dealt a major blow with striker Felix Oluoch joining the club’s injury layoff list on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

According to an update on Sunday, January 25, 2026, team doctor Brian Odongo confirmed that the former Posta Rangers attacker is suffering from a patellar tendinopathy, a niggling concern of an injury that has been hampering the player for some time now.

“Felix sustained a knee injury and has been diagnosed with patellar tendinopathy. He is currently undergoing medical management and physical rehabilitation,” Odongo stated.

Oluoch, who is the club’s current top scorer with seven goals, will be sidelined indefinitely, with the injury requiring specialist consultation and careful management.

The club has resolved to prioritise the player’s health during his recovery phase, explaining why the attacker was left out of the starting team in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Bidco United, as explained by head coach Charles Akonnor.

Can’t play

“Felix had to sit out during yesterday’s match (against Bidco United) because of the injury. I was briefed by the team doctor, and we will also be seeking a specialist opinion on the way forward. As it is, he can’t play,” said Akonnor.

“He is a very important player, and his well-being is key. We will take all steps to have him back in good shape,” he added.

The timing of the injury comes at a crucial juncture for Gor Mahia and the player, with the 21-time KPL champions stepping up its quest for the league title. Gor Mahia leads proceedings in the title after 18 games with 36 points after their win over Bidco United.

The club, however, faces a tough challenge from archrivals AFC Leopards, whose win on Sunday over Sofapaka FC, saw Fred Ambani’s side close in on the log leaders as the league’s second half kicked off.

On a personal note, the layoff curtails Oluoch’s recent run of form in front of goal, coming days after the striker scored a goal in a 3-0 win over Mara Sugar to shore up his chase of the FKF PL golden boot with his seventh league goal.

On a positive note, Gor was recently boosted by the return of midfielder Lawrence Juma, who resumed to full training on January 23, 2026, after recovering from an injury on
