FKF Cup: Bandari secure third-place with over KCB
By Luke Oluoch, June 14, 2026Bandari FC have clinched the third-place playoff spot in the 2026 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup after edging KCB 2-0 this Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Kwale Stadium.
Bernard Mwalala’s side, fresh from a heartbreaking penalty shootout that denied them a spot in the final and a shot at the Ksh3 million prize money, made light work of their top-tier opposition to finish on the podium for the season.
Following a cagey first half, skipper Andrew Juma opened the scoring for the home team with a superbly taken strike to break the Bankers’ resolute resistance.
Mubarak on fire
Hamza Mubarak, a revelation for the Dockers throughout the entirety of the competition, continued his fine form by scoring the match’s second goal in the 78th minute.
The goal places the youngster in a prime position for the competition’s Golden Boot race, following his brilliant hat-trick against Eldoret-based Mfalme FC in the quarterfinals.
The Dockers’ push for a second FKF Cup title was originally curtailed in the last four after going down on penalties against Kenya Police.
For their exploits, the coastal club walks away with Ksh1.5 million.
Robert Matano’s side also remains in the money bracket of the competition despite the loss that sees them finish fourth. This is thanks to the newly unveiled, increased prize money structure that ensures all clubs in the top four are rewarded for a massive campaign.
The club will walk away with Ksh 750,000.
Focus on the final
Action now shifts to the finals, where 2024 champions Kenya Police FC lock horns with Tusker FC in a high-stakes winner-take-all encounter.
The cash Ksh3 million prize and a coveted spot in the CAF Confederation Cup are both at stake, with both sides being eager to emerge victorious in what promises to be a thrilling final.
One of the two sides will be the new champion of the Premier Cup competition, taking over from Nairobi United, who beat Gor Mahia to the 2025 finals.
