Victor Wanyama reunites with Tottenham squad, backs Spurs for big 2026/27 season

In a statement shared on his X page on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the ex-Kenyan international, who remains a fan favourite at North London following his impactful spell at the club, shared photos from his visit to the club’s training base and his reunion with the Spurs squad as he watched them train from the sidelines.
The combative midfielder announced his retirement from football in April 2026, as he announced his transition into coaching.

The football icon also had a moment with his former teammates at the London club, including keeper Miche Vorm and Fernando Llorente, among others, as they joined the team for lunch.
He noted that former and current squad members held insightful discussions about expectations for the season ahead.

“It was a great day catching up over lunch ahead of the EPL fixture. Watched the lads’ train and had an insightful discussion between the former and current players on what to expect this season,” Wanyama shared.

The former Harambee Stars captain expressed strong optimism about Tottenham’s prospects, praising the squad depth and quality assembled for the new season.
“I have a good feeling we have a solid team. “Come on, you Spurs #COYS,” he added.
Wanyama’s visit highlights the strong bond that remains between the club and its former players.
The former midfielder was also at the Spurs iconic stadium on Sunday, May 24, 2026, for the final day of the Premier League clash last season as Spurs sought to escape relegation.
He took part in the pre-match build-up alongside the club’s official pitch and stadium announcer, Paul Coyte, as Spurs successfully defended its Premier League status with a famous win over West Ham United.
