Mbeumo leads Manchester United’s fastest players this season
By Joel Masibo, September 29, 2026Bryan Mbeumo has emerged as Manchester United’s quickest player so far this season, according to data from the Premier League and Opta.
The figures were released during the current international break, with United having played five of their 38 Premier League matches in the 2026/27 campaign.
Mbeumo reached a top speed of 35.36 kilometres per hour during United’s match against Everton earlier this month. The winger produced the sprint in the second half after already putting his side ahead with an impressive opening goal.
He later attempted to break forward again after receiving a through ball from Matheus Cunha, but Everton defender Tyrique George stopped the attack with a well-timed sliding challenge.
Mbeumo’s effort puts him second among the fastest players recorded in the Premier League so far this season.

Liverpool’s Bradley Barcola currently occupies the top position after reaching 35.93 km/h on his league debut against Ipswich Town.
Opta also provided Manchester United’s other leading figures, with Luke Shaw recording the second-highest speed at the club.
Shaw reached 34.43 km/h during the victory over Ipswich, while Benjamin Sesko was clocked at 34.26 km/h against Manchester City.
Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee complete United’s top five, having registered maximum speeds of 33.43 km/h and 33.10 km/h respectively.

Difficult start
Manchester United are having a difficult run in the Premier League season. However, manager Michael Carrick has remained adamant that he is cognisant of the concerns raised by a section of Manchester United fans regarding the club’s start to the season.
Speaking after the draw against Fulham on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the Craven Cottage, the manager insisted that he shares those concerns and is not in any way downplaying the poor start to the campaign.
The Englishman also added that he understands the frustrations but pointed out that there is still a big season ahead and a long way to go.
“It is still a big season ahead, and to be fair, we are going to have a long season with spells and moments, the league is a long sprint. We have to understand… I understand the frustration, of course I do, because we wanted to be better, and we wanted to do other things. But the deflation, I think, is certainly not what we have or want within the club,” he said.
