Arsenal reach agreement on personal terms with Vinicius Jr
By Joel Masibo, August 1, 2026Reports indicate Arsenal have made significant progress in their pursuit of Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr, with claims emerging that the North London club has already reached an agreement in principle on personal terms with the Brazilian international.
The 26-year-old attacker is entering the final year of his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu after his current deal runs until 2027, fueling continued speculation over his long-term future in Spain.
Vinicius is represented by Roc Nation Sports, the agency founded by music icon Jay-Z, which has been holding discussions regarding the player’s future.
According to the popular Arsenal-focused X account Hand of Arsenal, negotiations between the player’s representatives and the Premier League champions have already produced positive results.
The account posted: “Arsenal Football Club have personal terms agreed in principle with Vinicius Junior.
“Roc Nation will go armed into negotiations with Real Madrid with a monstrous offer from the English Champions…….over to you Vinicius Junior.”
Although the claims have generated excitement among Arsenal supporters, there has been no official confirmation from either club or the player.
Despite the growing rumours, Real Madrid remain determined to keep hold of one of their biggest stars. Reports indicate that head coach Jose Mourinho wants Vinicius to remain an important part of his plans regardless of the uncertainty surrounding his contract.

The Spanish giants are also expected to complete the signing of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, although insiders have stressed that the incoming transfer is unrelated to Vinicius and should not be viewed as a replacement.
There is also a belief that several top players from both Real Madrid and Barcelona have previously entertained interest from Premier League clubs before eventually signing improved contracts to remain in La Liga.
Arteta on transfer business
At Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta continues to push for additions capable of strengthening his squad as the club targets further success. Reinforcements on the left wing have become a priority following Leandro Trossard’s move to Besiktas and continued uncertainty surrounding Gabriel Martinelli’s future.
Speaking earlier this week, Arteta outlined his ambitions for the club.

“We all know about the context of this transfer window.
“From ownership to the board, the sporting director and myself, we know that we want to take this club to a different level.
“That is going to require a better squad, better individuals.
“We have identified where we have opportunities to grow and to improve and to evolve our game and what is going to be needed to achieve that.
“Hopefully very soon we can start to put things in a very concrete way.”
Whether Arsenal can persuade Real Madrid to part with Vinicius Jr remains to be seen, but the reported agreement on personal terms has intensified speculation over what could become one of the biggest transfers of the summer.
