APS Bomet ease relegation pressure with derby win over Ulinzi Stars
By Luke Oluoch, April 4, 2026FKF Premier League newbies APS Bomet eased their relegation pressure on Saturday, April 4, 2026, following a 1-0 win over Ulinzi Stars in a hotly contested league clash.
Antony Naibei’s shot, which flew past Sylvain Ricks Omondi, proved to be the crucial goal to hand Pamzo the priceless victory.
The Bullets Derby clash, touted as a potential relegation six-pointer, carried massive permutations for teams fighting to escape the chop as the league enters its home stretch.
Ultimately, it was Sammy Pamzo Omollo’s side that claimed bragging rights to breathe new life into their survival hopes. The win marked their first victory in seven attempts.
Relegation threat
Despite not moving entirely out of the danger zone, APS moved level on points with Ulinzi, who occupy the slot directly above the three relegation-threatened teams.

Pamzo, whose team ended a run of seven games without a win, was elated with his charges. The former Posta Rangers coach attributed the result to a recent turnaround in form, noting that his side picked up their third consecutive clean sheet.
“This was a battle for survival. I believe we did well by scoring in the first half and defending our lines well. Our organisation off the ball, which was good. It’s such aspects that win you matches, and I believe our discipline was good.
“When I took this team, we were conceding, and I sought to work on it. I have been working on our defensive shape, and I must congratulate them as we mark our third game without conceding,” he stated.
Far from done
The coach has, however, sounded an alarm that the war for survival remains far from over.
“We are not yet out of the woods, but such wins give you the confidence you need. We would rather not relax; the job is not over. We now look forward to our next game against Posta,” he added.
On his part, Ulinzi Stars’ interim coach decried a lack of organisation during set-piece situations in the defeat.
“It was a tight game and was only decided by a set piece. We gave our all but could not find a goal. We now go back to rectify the few mistakes we showed and see how the next games go,” he stated.
In other matches, Gor Mahia will face off against Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Elsewhere, AFC Leopards will take on Murang’a Seal despite announcing a change of venue hours before the match.
