AFC Leopards keeper Katasi vows to fight for FKF PL title to very end

AFC Leopards custodian Humphrey Katasi has revealed that Ingwe will fight for the FKF Premier League title until the final whistle of the season.

The shot-stopper made the remarks following Ingwe’s Saturday, May 16, 2026, victory over Kakamega Homeboyz. The win puts the title challengers just a point behind Gor Mahia, who have a game in hand in the tight, two-horse title race.

Leopards, who remain the sole challengers to Gor Mahia heading into the final three league games, rode on goals from Emmanuel Lwanga and Samuel Semo to claim the massive derby win and extend the thrilling title race into the final weeks of the season.

While reflecting on the win, Katasi expressed his relief after Leopards broke their duck of poor results against the Kakamega-based club, noting that winning the derby was no mean feat.

Not giving up

“Derbies always have their challenges, but it is good we have a team where anyone can score and help the team win,” he said.

The former Nzoia Sugar goalie reiterated the team’s war cry for the final run-in, saying they will not be giving up their chase for league honours.

“Until the champions are officially declared, we are firmly in the race, and we will not relent. We urge the fans to come out and support us in these final games, and we will do our part as players on the pitch,” he stressed.

Katasi’s sentiments come after Ingwe coach Fred Ambani lauded the response from his charges as the title race heads to the decisive final three games.

Ambani on title chase

Speaking on Saturday after the victory, Ambani said that his charges had aptly responded to the call of giving all to their final fixtures as they look to end their over-decade-long wait for the league title honours.

“The message to the players has consistently been to push hard. They have taken that encouragement well and have been giving their absolute all in these matches,” he said.

With the season concluding shortly, Leopards face a demanding final stretch against APS Bomet and Bidco United in their penultimate and final fixtures, while hoping Gor Mahia drops crucial points to stand any chance of clinching the title.
