Thursday blackout to affect parts of several counties

Kenya Power has announced a planned power outage affecting residents and businesses in 9 counties on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

The outage will last several hours in the affected areas. In a post on X, Kenya Power said, “Good evening, Please be advised that there will be a scheduled power interruption as outlined in the attached Images: Date: Thursday, 19.02.2026.”

Nairobi County

In Runda, the blackout will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting Redhill Rd, Gachie, Rosslyn Green, Rosslyn Lone Tree, Runda Groove, Ruaka Groove, part of Ruaka Drive, Rosslyn Valley and adjacent customers. Part of Buruburu and Hamza will also be affected during the same hours, including Buruburu Ph 5, Naivas Buruburu, Hamza, Makadara Law Court, Magunas Jogoo Rd, and Uhuru Market.

Other places include St. Ann School, Mbotela, Likoni Rd and surrounding areas. Bahati area, including Bahati Towers, Rikana, Burma Market, City Stadium, Kaloleni and adjacent customers, will also experience outages. Part of Ngong Road will be affected from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., including Green House, Adams Arcade, Ndemi Lane, Guadalupe Church, Suna Rd, part of Kirichwa Rd, Kenya Shell, Total Petrol Station and nearby customers.

Kajiado County

Kajiado Town and surrounding areas will experience outages from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting Kajiado County Offices, Saina, BlueSky, Sambel, Oloyangalani, Oloosuyian, Saab Royale, Suguna Farm, MTTI and the whole of Kajiado Town.

Central Rift region

In parts of Londiani, power will be off from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting Makutano, Miti Tatu, Kiploki, Kamwingi 1 and 2, DF4, Londiani Girls, Sacred Heart and adjacent customers.

North Rift region

In Uasin Gishu County, Naiberi Centre, Kipsinende Farm, Plateau Bible College and Plateau Hospital will be without power from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

South Nyanza region

In Homabay County, Rabuor, Mango, Twist Centre and adjacent customers will experience outages from 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Mt. Kenya region

In Nyeri County, Endarasha, Charity, Uasonyiro, Mairo, Endarasha Sec School, Watuka, Wandare, Embaringo, Kimunyuru and adjacent customers will be affected from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Chinga and Kagicha areas will also be without power from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., including Chinga Girls, Gathabari, Gathanji, Gichiche, Demka Dairy, Ruruguti, Chinga Boys, Gikurwe, Kagongo, Major Wachira Farm and Kiinu.

Kirinyaga County

Thumaita West will experience outages from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., covering Kiandai, Kinyakiiru, Multiple Academy, Riamugaa, Kiambwe, Thiguku, Baricho Town, Getuya and adjacent customers.

Murang’a County

Kenol Town, Githanji Estate, Kimorori Market, County Offices, Kenol, Githanji Police Post and adjacent customers will experience outages from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Laikipia County

Mukima, KHE, part of Ntrukuma, St. Jude Murungai, Akurino, Muramati, Mwireri and adjacent customers will be affected from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
