Salasya cautions Babu Owino on engaging with Sifuna
By Charles Ouma, February 13, 2026Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has cautioned his Embakasi East counterpart Babu Owino over engagements with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
In a brief but loaded statement on his X account on Friday, February 13, 2026, Salasya urged Babu Owino to exercise political vigilance when engaging with the Senator.
“To the likes of Babu Owino, if your allegiance is genuinely to the people, exercise political vigilance when engaging with Edwin Sifuna,” Salasya stated on X on Friday, February 13, 2026.

The statement comes amid sharp divisions in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), with both Babu and Sifuna set to address a political rally in Kitengela on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Salasya’s take on ODM drama
The MP has been following the ongoing clashes in ODM while also weighing in on the drama surrounding
He alleged that the party is united but is being used by State House to confuse Kenyans, with the recent attempt to kick out its secretary general being part of a well-choreographed move to distract the public from real issues.
“ODM is united but being used by the State House to confuse Kenyans to keep them busy discussing ODM politics as they continue to steal,” Salasya said.
He added that the truth would be revealed in due course, linking the embattled ODM Secretary General to the alleged plot.
“But very soon, Kenyans will know the truth. ODM is the problem of Kenyans. The day ODM will die completely is the day Kenyans will get freedom,” he added.
Salasya on a tweeting spree
In yet another statement, the first-term lawmaker cautioned Kenyans from trusting ODM, urging President Ruto to finish off the party completely.
“Trust ODM politics at your own peril…wacha ODM ikufe. Ruto, maliza ODM completely na uizike kabisa (Ruto, please finish ODM completely and bury it). “You are the founder member of ODM; don’t leave behind anything you started, please, sir. We are starting a new Kenya in 2027 with truthful leaders,” he commented.

Salasya has been on an emotional roller-coaster, captured in his tweeting spree.
From celebrating Edwin Sifuna’s short-lived ouster, which has since been suspended, to expressing his immense disappointment after the Senator pledged loyalty to ODM and vowed to soldier on, the Mumias MP’s tweets reveal his keen interest in ODM politics with a motive that he has not expressed in his statements.
