President William Ruto pledged Ksh1 million to buy church choir uniforms.

He advised church leaders to add the colour yellow during a service at AIC Pipeline in Embakasi, Nairobi County, on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Speaking to congregants, he said the donation would support the choir as they continue serving in the church. He made the remarks while addressing worshippers during the service. Ruto said he appreciated leaders who remember church groups such as choirs.

“Namshukuru gavana wetu kwa kuwakumbuka wana kwaya,” he said.

He added that supporting the choir would help them continue praising God through song and service. He told the congregation that he had noticed the choir already had good uniforms.

“Naona mko na uniform mzuri,” Ruto said. He added that he would support them further by contributing toward an additional set of uniforms.

The President then addressed church leadership directly. He said he would give KSh1 million to the church leader to buy the uniforms.

“Ule kiongozi wa kanisa hapa nitakupatia milioni moja ununulie hawa watu uniform,” he said, drawing attention to the pledge’s specific purpose.

Ruto advised that when buying the uniforms, leaders should add a small touch of yellow.

“Na ukiwanunulia uniform, kwa corner mahali, uwaongezee yellow kidogo kwa corner,” he said. He explained that the colour should be added subtly and not dominate the uniform.

Colour suggestion draws attention

He went on to explain why he mentioned the colour.

“Yellow ni rangi yetu ya ukambani. Yellow na green, sindio?” Ruto said.

During the same address, Ruto praised the choir’s performance. He said he had observed how well they sang during the service.

“Wameimba vizuri sana,” he said, commending their energy and coordination.

He added a light moment to his remarks by comparing the performance to modern entertainment.

“Nimeona kwamba disko ilihama ikakuja kanisani,” Ruto said, suggesting the choir brought strong energy into worship.

The President continued to praise the choir’s delivery. He said that if the Deputy President were present, he would have approved the performance.

“Angesema ni fire si fire. Fire sana hiyo choir,” Ruto said.

Ruto concluded his address after acknowledging the choir’s effort and restating his commitment to support them through the promised donation and guidance on the uniforms.
