Mosiria warns men against buying iPhones for girlfriends while neglecting their parents in the village
By Valerian Khakayi, December 5, 2025Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has issued relationship advice to young men, urging them to prioritise their parents over expensive gifts for girlfriends.
In a candid conversation with media personality Dr Ofweneke, Mosiria spoke on social issues affecting young men in the dating scene. He highlighted the pressures faced by the boy child, many of whom struggle to make ends meet while being asked for money by partners.

Mosiria emphasised that true love for one’s parents should guide financial decisions.
“Boy child anapitia mashida hii town, anapigiwa simu ‘beb nitumie Ksh50k’, aki imagine hata huko nyumbani mzazi aliyekulea humtumiangi ata hiyo Ksh 50k,” Mosiria said.
“If you really love your parents na ukumbuke mahali wazazi wamekutoa uwezi waacha wazazi wateseke juu ya mapenzi na ni girlfriend , si ati ni mtu ameoa ati unamununulia iPhone 17 na mama yako anatumia katululu.”
He also criticised the commercialisation of romantic relationships, noting that many young women are now aware of the hustles men go through to earn money.
“Mapenzi imekuwa commercialised, na madem wakajua ile hustle umepitia kutafuta pesa na umepeleka out,”he said.
In addition, Mosiria urged women to be understanding and avoid pressuring men financially, advising them to encourage their partners to grow together rather than chase money.
“Madem wache ni wa advise please wacheni kufwata pesa ukipenda boychild kama hana kitu na umencourage mtagrow pamoja,” Mosiria urged.
Cheating and marriage
To curb the rise of cheating and STIs, Mosiria urged men to marry multiple wives, arguing that if men are allowed to marry multiple wives, they would be less likely to engage in extramarital affairs.

He added that the government should consider legalising polygamy, as the current situation contributes to the spread of diseases, with many young women lacking partners and ending up with men who are already involved with others for financial reasons.

“Kwa sababu the rate at which magonjwa yana samba juu ya madem kukosa mabwana na kufwata wenye wako na hela iko juu sana inafaa iangaliwe.“
