Mosiria steps in as construction leaves neighbour’s home cracked
By Ascah Mwango, February 7, 2026Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has intervened in a dispute between a homeowner and a real estate developer in Kasarani after a construction project caused damage to a residential house.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account on Friday, February 6, 2026, Mosiria said he stepped in after receiving a distress call from a homeowner whose property had been affected by a neighbouring apartment development.
According to Mosiria, the construction had led to visible cracks in the homeowner’s house, while debris from the site was repeatedly falling into the compound, posing safety risks to the family and causing emotional distress.
“Today in Kasarani, I stepped in after receiving a distress call from a homeowner whose property had been severely affected by a neighbouring construction project,” Mosiria said.
Adding;
“The ongoing apartment development had caused visible cracks in his house, and debris from the site was continuously falling into his compound, creating both safety hazards and emotional distress for the family.”

He noted that what raised serious concern was the developer’s failure to take responsibility or address the damage caused by the project.
Mosiria said he engaged both the homeowner and the developer and made a direct call to the developer to resolve the matter. After assessing the situation and listening to the homeowner’s concerns, the developer acknowledged the impact of the construction works.
“After assessing the situation and listening to the homeowner’s concerns, the developer acknowledged the impact of the construction and agreed to convene a meeting with the homeowner to work out a fair and lasting solution that ensures safety, accountability, and harmonious living,” he stated.

The county official stressed the need for responsible development as Nairobi continues to expand, saying growth should not come at the expense of residents’ safety and well-being.
“As our city continues to grow, development must be done responsibly and with respect for the rights of others. No project should compromise the safety or well-being of neighbours,” Mosiria said.
The intervention comes amid growing concerns about unregulated construction in residential areas.
