Mosiria rescues a 4-year-old boy after battling cold nights in Nairobi CBD
By Cynthia Lodite, January 10, 2026Nairobi’s Citizen Engagement and Customer Service CEC, Geoffrey Mosiria, has rescued a four-year-old boy after battling cold nights in Nairobi Central Business District.
In a post on Mosiria’s official X account on Saturday, January 10, 2026, he explained that the four-year-old boy has been sleeping on the streets for a long time.
“I had no option but to rescue this child from the streets of Nairobi, where he was sleeping in the cold!” Mosiria added.

Mosiria’s reaction to the tree-hugging challenge
The rescue incident comes after Mosiria urged Kenyans to stop the ongoing tree-hugging challenge trend.
This follows the completion of a 50-hour feat by 14-year-old Stephen Gachanja at Jevanjee Gardens.
Stephen, who undertook the challenge to raise Ksh 3.5 million for his brother’s ear surgery, has captured the nation’s attention with his determination and resilience.
In a statement shared on his official social media channels on Friday, January 9, 2026, Mosiria praised Stephen for his courage but called on Kenyans to be creative and come up with new initiatives instead of continuing tree-hugging challenges.
According to him, continuing the challenge could dilute environmental activist Truphena Muthoni’s legacy.
“Today, I had the chance to join other Kenyans in solidarity with a young man, Stephen Gachanja, who is 14 years old and is undertaking a 50-hour tree-hugging challenge at Jevanjee Gardens, Nairobi. He is raising funds to support his brother’s ear surgery, which costs KSh 3.5 million,” Mosiria said.
“I now call upon Kenyans to be creative and come up with new challenges, and let this be the last tree-hugging challenge, so that we do not water down what Truphena Muthoni did. Let us build on that legacy through innovation and impactful action.”
He, however, stated that the challenge is a call for Kenyans to plant, nurture and protect trees.
“This challenge is also a call to the people of Kenya to plant more trees and nurture them, so as to keep our environment clean and sustainable,” he added.
