Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has issued an encouraging update on Esther Njoki and her son Alex, the mother and child he rescued from City Hall while battling drug addiction.

Speaking after visiting the rehabilitation centre on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, where the two are currently undergoing treatment, Mosiria said he was pleased with their progress since their rescue.

“Today, after work, I decided to pass by the rehabilitation centre to check on Esther Njoki and Alex and see how they are faring. I’m happy to share that, to everyone who has been following their story since the day I rescued them, the two are doing very well and are steadily progressing towards full recovery,” he said.

According to Mosiria, both she and her son are responding positively to the rehabilitation programme and showing steady improvement.

He affirmed his commitment to continuing to support them even after they complete their stay at the centre.

“I will continue to follow up closely on their journey and support them even after they leave the centre, to ensure they are able to stand on their own and reintegrate back into society with dignity and hope,” he added.

This comes a few days after he announced that Esther Njoki was found in a critical state, suffering from drug addiction and pneumonia, and was immediately taken to a rehabilitation centre for urgent care.

“I am proud to say  she fully committed herself to change and has shown incredible strength and determination in transforming her life.”

“During her recovery, she asked me to help her find her children. She had even forgotten the name of the children’s home where they had been placed, so the search was not easy. We spent considerable time gathering any information that could lead us to them. Today, we finally got a hint that led us to the home,” he stated.

Furthermore, he noted that the reunion, held at the children’s home, was profoundly emotional.

“I took her there, and for the first time in over seven years, she saw her two young boys. It was an emotional and unforgettable moment. The boys were completely shocked  they had believed their mother had died long ago. Seeing them reunite, talk, and begin bonding again touched everyone present. The home’s management was also very happy to witness the reunion.”

While Martha completes her rehabilitation, arrangements have been made for regular visits to allow her to bond with her children.

Additionally, Mosiria revealed that support is also being provided to help her secure employment and stable accommodation so she can rebuild her life with dignity and provide for her family.

“Today marked not just a reunion but a fresh start, a new chapter filled with healing, hope, and the beautiful promise of a family finally coming back together,” he added.
