Mosiria condemns brutal child beating in a viral video

In a statement shared on his official social media accounts on Thursday, January 15, 2026, Mosiria clarified that while he supports parents disciplining their children, the incident shown in the video goes far beyond discipline.
He stressed that discipline should be about guiding, correcting, and teaching a child, not causing fear or harm.
“Let me be clear: I am not against parents disciplining their children. Discipline is necessary. But what we are witnessing here is not discipline, it is brutality. Discipline is about guiding, correcting, and teaching a child to do what is right,” Mosira said.
“Beating a child with this level of cruelty is criminal. No child deserves to be treated as if they committed a serious crime. This is child abuse, plain and simple.”

Call for justice
Mosiria urged the child’s mother to report the matter immediately to the nearest police station and the Children’s Welfare Office, emphasising that the law is there to protect children, not punish those seeking help.
According to Mosiria, he has been informed that the father of the child works in Nairobi, making it even more urgent that the matter is addressed without delay.
“I am informed that the father of this child works in Nairobi. This matter must be taken seriously and acted upon without delay,” Mosiria added.
“To the mother of this child: I urge you to report immediately to the nearest police station and the Children’s Welfare Office. The law is there to protect the child, not punish those who seek help.”
He further called on the relevant authorities to investigate the case urgently and ensure the perpetrator faces the full force of the law.
“I am calling upon the relevant authorities to urgently investigate this case and ensure that the perpetrator faces the full force of the law,” he urged.
