Man takes own life after killing his 51-year-old wife in Kuresoi
By Bernard Waweru, February 12, 2026Grief has engulfed Bygum village in Kuresoi North sub-county in Nakuru County following a tragic domestic row where a man aged 60 killed his wife aged 51 before taking his own life
The bodies of the couple were discovered inside their house.
Kuresoi North Police commander Judah Gathenge confirmed the incident, saying the body of Richard Simotwo was found hanging from a rope, while his wife’s body was lying on the bed
“I have sent officers to the scene, and investigations are ongoing. I urge residents, especially those in marriage, to resolve their issues peacefully. Last week we had a similar incident in the Kimkasa area,” added Gathenge
According to neighbours led by Lily Koskei and Peter Rotich, the couple had been experiencing frequent quarrels and misunderstandings owing to the man’s drinking habits, which turned violent

Religious leaders in the area led by Bishop Simone Cheruiyot expressed sadness over the increased cases of domestic-related deaths
“As religious leaders, we don’t support separation. I call upon members of the society to seek peaceful ways of resolving conflicts and to seek counselling rather than resorting to violence
Simon Sitienei, an elder from Bygum, said some lovers have failed to coexist peacefully, adding that domestic disputes are facing couples of different ages.

Police have taken the bodies of the deceased to the Molo level 4 hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
