Makueni Huduma Centre extends working hours from 7am to 7pm
By Dan Kauna, July 19, 2026Getting government documents in Makueni County has become easier. Starting Monday, July 20, 2026, the Makueni Huduma Centre will operate under extended working hours to improve service delivery.
Huduma Kenya shared the update on their X page, confirming that the “Makueni Huduma Centre, effective tomorrow, will now open from 7am to 7pm, making government services easier and more accessible!”
Joining the nationwide shift
The branch joins 20 other Huduma Centres across the country that recently shifted to the 12-hour schedule. On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the government announced extended hours for five centres in Nairobi, including GPO, Makadara, Kibra, Eastleigh, and City Square.
Other major towns like Thika, Nakuru, Eldoret, Nyeri, Bungoma, and Kisumu also adopted the 7:00 am to 7:00 pm timeline.
This expansion targets busy towns where the demand for public services is high. The longer schedule gives a bodaboda rider, a trader, or an office worker the flexibility to visit the centre early in the morning or late in the evening without disrupting their daily hustle.
Accessing everyday documents
Residents visiting the Makueni office from Monday to Friday will have access to all regular services. Staff will be available to process National Identity Cards, birth and death certificates, and business registrations.
Support for the Kenya Revenue Authority, Social Health Authority, and Higher Education Loans Board will also run continuously. Additional services include the National Transport and Safety Authority, eCitizen support, and the National Social Security Fund.
The extended operating hours are part of ongoing reforms by the Ministry of Public Service to improve efficiency and make government operations citizen friendly. Kenyans planning to visit any of the centres are advised to confirm the operating hours for their preferred location.
