Former Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha put love on display by formally introducing her husband, Benson Milimo, to Cherang’any residents in Trans Nzoia County.

Addressing hundreds of the residents on Monday, 22 December 2025, at her Chebarus residence in Sitatunga ward, during the distribution of Christmas donations, Nakhumicha said he is proud of Milimo, an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations UN Habitat in Nairobi, said that she has the blessings of Milimo, who works in the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly, to run for Trans Nzoia Governorship in the 2027 gubernatorial election.

“My husband is here with us. Before I came here, this place was deserted, but now it is always busy and full of guests from all the corners of Trans. He has given me his blessing to be the third governor of this county,” she said.

She jokingly challenged her husband to work hard to get her pregnant with twins.

“From today onwards, I will be roasting some good groundnuts for him so that he can deliver good results. I want him to give me Mulongo and Mukhwana (twins). I will improve Chebarus Health Centre, and I want to be the first female governor to deliver there,” she said.

She said that her administration will prioritise healthcare, agriculture, Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) and Vocational Training Centres (VTCs).

“I will make sure Kitale District Hospital is back up and running; I will modernise Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital by collaborating with the National Government and make sure agriculture is working,” added Nakhumicha.

On his part, Milimo said he is fully behind Nakhumicha’s bid and called on the residents of Trans Nzoia to support her ambition.

“Mama Susan is development-conscious, and I know she has the capacity to transform Trans Nzoia to the next level. All we need from you is your prayers, advice, and votes come 2027,” he appealed.

The two lovebirds are senior members of the FORD Kenya party. In 2022, Milimo contested for the Cherang’any Constituency parliamentary seat. Nakhumicha ran for the Trans Nzoia Woman Representative seat.
