List of areas to be affected by power blackout on Wednesday, January 7

Kenya Power has announced a planned power maintenance exercise scheduled for Wednesday, January 7, 2026, affecting areas in Kajiado County.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, January 5, 2026, through their X account, the utility company said the maintenance will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The maintenance exercise will affect areas within Loitokitok and Ex Sultan Hamud 33kV feeders, with Kenya Power stating that the interruption is necessary to allow technicians to carry out essential work on the electricity network.

Residents and businesses in affected locations are advised to prepare for temporary power outages. The areas likely to be impacted include Sultan Hamud, Emali Town, Pipeline Sultan, Jet Inn, Kibini, Portland Cement, Elerai, Serengei, Mashuru, Ngatu, Emaroro, Olgos, and nearby communities.

“Good evening. The following areas will be on planned power maintenance tomorrow (07.01.2026),” the company stated.

Kenya Power advised that customers in these areas plan accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the maintenance period.

The utility company stated that planned maintenance exercises are critical for ensuring a reliable electricity supply and minimising unexpected power interruptions.

These activities are carried out to inspect, service, and upgrade electrical infrastructure, which includes transformers, distribution lines, and other essential components of the electricity network.
