Kenya Power lists parts of 12 counties to experience blackout on Tuesday, January 27
By Nancy Marende, January 27, 2026Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power interruption that will affect parts of 12 counties on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, as the utility company undertakes routine network maintenance and system upgrades.
According to the notice issued on Monday, January 26, 2026, Kenya Power said the planned outages will occur at different times depending on the area.
“Good evening. The listed area will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow, January 27, 2026,” read the statement in part.
Nairobi Region
Parts of Nairobi County will experience the outage between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., including Ngong, Kawangware, and Kibera. Specific locations include Riara Road, Bamboo Lane, Wanyee Road, Nyakinywa Road, and Talanta Stadium.
Other areas include: War Memorial Cemetery, Githembe, Meteorological Department, Midhill Hospital, Junction Mall, Ngando, Dagoretti Corner, Gitanga Road, Rusinga School, Braeburn School, Tea Board of Kenya, Miotoni Road, Lenana School, Race Course, Jockey Club, Jamuhuri Park, Rowland Camp, Ayany, Showground, National Beekeeping Centre, Santack Estate, Gikuyu Close and surrounding areas.
North Rift Region
In Uasin Gishu County, Kapkatembu, Ngenyileel will experience an outage between 9.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.The areas include Kapkatembu, Kapkenyeloi, Kapchesukunwo, Soin Primary School and adjacent customers.
Additionally, the areas around Railway Hotel, Premium Hotel, Maili Nne will experience an outage between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. These areas include Baharini, Premium Hotel Maili Nne, Railways Hotel–Kamagut and surrounding areas.
Kisumu County
In Kisumu County, parts of the Farm Machineries Area will experience a blackout between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. These areas include Farm Machineries, Grand Royal Swiss Hotel, Bukna, Bance Park, Kapko, Kiboswa, Safaricom Booster and nearby customers.
Kakamega County
Additionally, Kakamega County will experience a blackout in the Malava Area from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. These areas include Samisi, Malanga, Malava Market, Malava Hospital, Malichi, Kimangeti Tumbbeni, Kakoyi, Kambi Kwanza, Shamberere, West Kenya Sugar, Mahira, KWS, Kambiri and surrounding areas.
Migori County
In Migori County, Ranen and Dede will experience the outage from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. These areas include Ranen, Kokuro, Dede, Nyakuru, Kanyimach, Maroo, Omware and adjacent customers.
Homa Bay County
Pala Areas, including Pala, Nyakongo, Pala Prison, Ngeta, Oyuma, Ongalo, Osika, Kanyakutu, Sombro, Aros, Nyangwete, Jonyo, Chula, and Sanda, will experience the outage from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Additionally, the Nyatoto area will experience the outage from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. These areas include Nyatoto, Ongayo, Nyabera, Kona Koito and surrounding customers.
Murang’a County
Part of the Tana Feeder – Ndithini Mission Spur will experience a power outage from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. These areas include; Busiani Primary, Kiatineni Market, Kiatineni Primary, Ndovuini Primary, Tana Ranch Market, Tana Ranch Primary and adjacent areas.
Meru County
The Gakoromone, Giaki, Kwa Ng’ombe areas will experience outage from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas include Gakoromone, Shauri Yako, Marvis Petroleum, Againe, Kiambogo Coffee Factory, Imenti North Muslim Girls, Mulanthakari Market and Schools, Thuura Coffee Factory, Kauthene Market, Giaki Market, Kathirune Market, Ciothirai Police Station and surrounding villages.
Embu County
The Masinga, Kaewa, Kitangani, and Mutwamwaki will experience an outage between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. These areas include: Masinga Kengen Camps, Sogea, Kamukunji, Mukusu, Makutano Andei, Masinga Market, Kaewa, Kitangani, Mutwamwaki and surrounding areas.
Kirinyaga County
The Gathigiriri Prison, NIB, and Mwariko areas will experience an outage between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. These areas include: Lainisha, Sacco, NIB, KPLC Offices, Kiriwasco, MRM, Kingati, Mwariko, Gathigiriri Prison, Mikimaini Borehole and nearby residents.
Laikipia County
The Kathi, Kangaita will experience an outage from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. These areas include Katheri Market, Ontulili, Kwa Marete, Kangaita and adjacent customers.
Kiambu County
Gikambura and Lusigetti will experience a power outage between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. These areas include; Kiriti, Gikambura Shopping Centre, Lusigetti Shopping Centre, Nachu, Mawathaine and surrounding areas—Fourways Estate, Kigwa Farm, Thindigua PCEA, Kwa Masai, Ankiah Apartments and nearby customers.
Additionally, Kiangombe, Athena, Oasis, Kona 1, 2 & 3, Athena, Kiangombe, Kimuchu Primary and Secondary Schools, Superfine Africa Nuts, Leerand School, and adjacent areas.
