Kenya Power lists parts of 10 counties set for blackouts on Wednesday, September 16
By Paulette Mboga, September 15, 2026Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of nine counties on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, as the utility carries out scheduled maintenance.
The affected areas will experience outages at different times, with most interruptions running until 5.00 pm.
Nairobi County
Parts of Loresho will experience an outage from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The affected areas are Kaptagat Road, Thego Lane, Lions, Coopers Shinyaru Rd, Qa-ribu Inn, Waiyaki Way, Loresho Primary, Loresho Ridge, Kibagare Way, Police Training School and adjacent customers.
This comes after Kenya Power announced 10-hour daily maintenance work in Roysambu and Githurai, with the exercise running from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm until Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Kajiado County
Chuna, Police Sacco and Kimalat will experience power interruptions from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. The affected areas are St. Lliana, Polar Junior, Deliverance Rd, Baraka Rd, Balozi Rd, New Valley, Upper Valley, Chuna Est, Safaricom 1, Safaricom 2, Yukos, Utumishi, Police Sacco Est, Muigai, Kimalat, New Light, East Africa University and adjacent customers.
Kericho County
Parts of Changoi will experience an outage from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. The affected area is the Changoi Tea Factory water pump and adjacent customers.
Kisumu County
Miguye will experience power interruptions from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The affected areas are Miguye Pri, Miguye Village and adjacent customers.
Kirinyaga County
Mucagara, Thumaita and Karumandi will be affected from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The areas listed are Mucagara Mkt, Kiambogo, Gacam C/Fact, Kamugunda Mkt, parts of Kamweti Junc-In, Karumandi Mkt, Kiangombe Village, Guama Village and adjacent customers.
Tharaka Nithi County
Mubukuro Market will experience power interruptions from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The affected areas are Mubukuro Mkt, EAPC and PCEA Mubukuro, Mwenji Village, Kanoro Pri and adjacent customers.
Nyeri County
Gitunduti Market and Itiati will experience an outage from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
The affected areas are Itiati TBC, Gitunduti Mkt, Kianjuguma TBC, Gikore, Kihuri, Karatina University, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters and adjacent customers.
Nyeri County
VOK Booster and Mwenji will also experience power interruptions from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The affected areas are VOK Booster, Mwenji Village, Nyeri Hills, KBC Booster and adjacent customers.
Meru County
Maua, Kangeta, Muthara and Garbatula will experience an outage from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. The affected areas include Kiegoi T/Fact, Maua Water Works, Maua Sawmills, Maua Girls Sec Sch, Maua Hospital, Kangeta Mkt, Karama Mkt, Maili Tatu, Kageta Girls, Burieruri Sec, M”Iringo Lodge, Lare Mkt, Kabachi Mkt, Mutuati H/Center, Tuuru Mission, Antubochiu Mkt, Kanuni Mkt, Kieni Kia Muti Mkt, Kiengu, Kawiro Mkt, Athirurujene Mkt, Antibetwe, Kaluli Mkt, KK Mkt, Maua Methodist, Athiru Gaitu, Kinaa, Chaina State, Garbatula and adjacent customers.
Kiambu County
St. Linda, Gatong’ora and Kiratina will experience power interruptions from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The affected areas are Gwa Kairu, Riverside, Thome, St. Linda, Gatong’ora, Vision Park, Kenya Project, Part of Bypass, Miti Kenda, Karuguru, Mashinani, Kiratina Village, Kiratina Pri, Section of Bypass Corner, Mutonya Dispensary, Kwa China, Sewage, Kwihota, Gituamba Water Project and adjacent customers.
