Kenya Power lists areas to experience power outage on Tuesday, July 28
By Valerian Khakayi, July 27, 2026Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in several counties across the country on Tuesday, July 28, to facilitate scheduled network maintenance.
In a public notice issued on Monday, July 27, 2026, the utility company said the planned outages are part of routine maintenance works.
“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (28th July 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance. We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” Kenya Power said.
The scheduled maintenance will affect customers in parts of Nyeri, Embu, Nairobi, Machakos, Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Tana River, Taita Taveta and Kisumu counties between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm.
Here are the specific areas set to be affected by the planned power outage.
Nyeri County
Power will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Thangathi, Kiuu and Ithanji, affecting Thangathi Primary and Secondary schools, Kiuu Market, Mbugua, Ujamaa, Nguyoini, California, Ithanji schools, Ngagu and neighbouring customers.
Another outage will affect Mbiriri and Mapema from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with Mbiriri Market, Jericho, Tagwa Mbiriri Village, Mapema Market and nearby customers expected to be without electricity.
Embu County
Residents in Kivwe, Kithimu and Gatunduri will experience a power interruption between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Areas affected include Kiangima Secondary School, Gatunduri Market, Kensam, Kithimu Market, Mwangaza, Manyatta TVET, Kinajuki, Kevote, Makengi and surrounding areas.

Nairobi County
According to Kenya Power, parts of Eastleigh will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The outage will affect California Group of Schools, Friends Church, Waundo Street, Pumwani Hospital, First Avenue, Yare Plaza, Amad Plaza, Eastleigh Section 3 and adjacent customers.
Machakos County
In Kathiani, electricity will be interrupted between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., affecting parts of Ngelani, Mitaboni, Miumbuni, Kalikya, Lita, Thinu, Mua, Kyasila, Muthwani, Kaloleni, Kamuthanga, Kenol, Masokani and neighbouring areas.
Coast Region
The maintenance programme will also affect several counties along the Coast.
In Kwale County, outages are scheduled in Bonje Village and Mwache Dam, Kwale Investment, Njuca Ltd, Kokotoni Investment, Rondwe, Magagaja as well as Mwaroni and Diani Beach Hospital, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
In Kilifi County, customers in Marafa Market, Waresa, GIS, Wakala, Kaskini, Nate, Krystline Gongoni, Mwembe Resort, Garashi Market, Bura, and nearby areas will be without power between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
In Mombasa County, parts of Nyali, including Kilima Road Nyali, Twiga Villas Apts, Kisumu Ndogo, Harambe Est, Kambi Kikuyu, Makaburini, Fair Deal Plaza, Khadija Estate, Total VoK, VoK, Affordable Housing VoK, Gichanga Estate, Sauri Yako Nyali, Madina Estate, Frere Town, Super Loaf Leisure, Nature Waters, Mgongeni, Bankey Estate, Kisimani, Simba Estate, Nyali Plaza, Ores, Oshwal Academy, Enclave Nyali, Part of Beach Road, Village Estate & adjacent customers. will experience a power interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Residents in Hola Town, Masalani Town, Bura Fafi, Bura Tana, Charidende and Wenje in Tana River County will be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
While in Taita Taveta County, planned maintenance will affect Rekeke, Orkungu, Jipe Market, Njukini Market, Chumvini, Chakaleri, Msisinenyi, Wundanyi Town, Mbale and surrounding areas at different times between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Kisumu County
In Kisumu County, customers in Chemalal, including Chemalal Primary School, Kapkuong’ Market and Chemalal Village, will experience a power interruption from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Customers in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly during the maintenance period and know that electricity supply will be restored once the maintenance works have been completed.
