Kenya Power lists areas to be affected by blackout on Tuesday, June 2
By William Muthama, June 1, 2026Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance that will lead to temporary blackouts in several parts of the country on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
In a notice issued to customers on Monday, June 1, 2026, the utility firm said the interruptions are necessary to allow maintenance and improve service reliability across different regions.
“Good evening, kindly find the list of areas scheduled for power maintenance tomorrow (02.06.2026), “the utility company stated.
Western region hit
In the Western Region, areas in Lubao will be affected between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
The affected areas include Bukhaiywa, Lubao Market, Emusala, Emukamba, Hadithi, Orthopaedic Hospital, New National Housing, Mwiyala, Shikusa Prison, and nearby customers.
In Mabanga, the blackout will affect Mechimeru, Bukembe, Nzoia, Kasusi, Ekitale, Matumbuvu, Luanda, Mtomolo, and surrounding areas within the same time window.
“Affected Areas: Mechimeru, Bukembe, Nzoia, Mabanga, Kasusi, Ekitale, Matumbuvu, Luanda, Mtomolo & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power highlighted.
South Nyanza affected
Parts of Kisii County will also experience power interruptions under the South Nyanza Region.
Areas in Nyangweta, Etago, and Ekona will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The listed areas include Kenya Primary, Nyangweta SDA Secondary, Etago Market, Nyansembe, Nyakeyo, Suguta, Moticho, Engou, Nyabera, Nyamaiya, Ekona, Mogenda, Ochodororo, Maroon, and adjacent customers.
“Affected areas:Kenyenya Pri, Nyangweta SDA Sec, Etago Mkt, Nyansembe, Nyakeyo, Suguta, Moticho, Engou, Nyabera, Nyamaiya, Ekona, Mogenda, Ochodororo, Maroon & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.
Mt Kenya Region impacted
In the Mt Kenya Region, parts of Meru County will also face planned outages during the same period.
Affected areas include Kinaa, KWS Office, Kaweru, Kihutini, Kipkona, Kinaa Secondary, Rhino Camp, Njounje, Kamiruru, Nthare, Nguyuyu, Matindiru, Kiengu, Kabuitu, Kiamuringa, Kanjoo, Mangala, Ikweta, Kanake, Therone, Thambiro, Materine, Kinaa, Garbatula, and China State Construction Lot 2, among others.
