Kenya Power has notified electricity customers in Nyamira County to prepare for a planned power maintenance scheduled for Monday, August 3, 2026.

The power provider confirmed that the scheduled shutdown will affect specific locations within the South Nyanza region as technicians work to service electrical infrastructure.

Explaining the reason behind the interruption, the company stated that “the interruption is part of network maintenance” designed to improve power reliability for households and businesses.

Affected areas and timing details

The scheduled blackout will last for eight and a half hours, running from 8.30 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. Residents and business owners across selected parts of Nyamira County, particularly around Gachuba and Omogonchoro, will need to make early plans to handle their daily activities without mains electricity.

Mindful of the impact on daily routines and business operations in the area, Kenya Power noted, “We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations.” Traders operating salons, barber shops, cyber cafes, butcheries, and posho mills in these commercial centres are encouraged to adjust their work hours accordingly.
