Eliud Owalo reveals how he plans to defeat Ruto in 2027 poll
By David Nthua, February 1, 2026Eliud Owalo has said President William Ruto should begin packing his belongings, ready to exit State House, because the 2027 poll will not be like the past ones.
Speaking exclusively to a local TV station on Sunday, February 1, 2025, Owalo revealed that corruption and incompetence in Ruto’s government will cost him dearly at the ballot.
Owalo, who has in the past worked closely with President Ruto, said he is fully prepared to take on the head of state and does not fear the political journey ahead.

He noted that once he makes up his mind, he commits himself fully, regardless of the risks involved.
“I am somebody who is very courageous, very decisive. Once I make a decision, I go full hog. I am somebody who is a risk-taker. I take time, and I consult widely before I arrive at decisions, but when I do, I do so without fear,” Owalo said.
When asked about his 2027 presidential bid and his plan to edge out Ruto from State House, Owalo made it clear that he will not be part of what he described as convenience-based political arrangements.
He criticised alliances formed around ethnic numbers and power sharing, saying they have continued to hurt the country.
“I will not be part of an arrangement where politicians come together for purposes of convenience, putting together ethnic enclaves for purposes of winning elections and sharing power.
“That is one of the reasons why I walked out of this government,” he said.

Eliud Owalo warns Ruto
Owalo further revealed that his discomfort with Ruto’s style of politics began years ago, even before the current administration took office.
According to him, the concentration of power among a few families was a major red flag.
“I did state when I joined Ruto in 2019 that I was uncomfortable with a situation where a few families were deciding the destiny of this country,” Owalo added.
He also took issue with Ruto’s recent political engagements, saying they reflect the same old politics he opposes.
“You see Ruto rushing to Uhuru Kenyatta, hopping to Kabarak to seek the support of Gideon Moi. Just a few days ago, he was saying he needed to negotiate with Oburu Odinga,” Owalo said.
Owalo maintained that Kenyans are tired of recycled politics and will embrace a new leadership path in 2027.
