Mood

This comes a few months after he unveiled his much-anticipated  Public Service Vehicle (PSV), dubbed ‘Mood’.

The launch, held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) on Friday, July 19, 2025, was attended by thousands of matatu culture enthusiasts.

The event featured a music concert targeted at young people. DJs and MCs played trending youthful songs as the crowd danced into the night.

The event ended with the matatu taking a lap through the CBD, accompanied by a large crowd that disrupted traffic for several hours.

Mood, which will be plying Nairobi’s Embakasi route, boasts a bold design, cutting-edge features, and a distinct vibe.

Like many other popular matatus, this one too has massive subwoofers installed beneath the rear seats and additional auxiliary speakers mounted throughout to deliver a loud, club-like sound experience.

The most unique feature is the DJ mixer/controller, fixed next to the driver’s seat, which turns the vehicle into a mobile party spot.

Other features

It also features a custom number plate, which is said to be approved by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

Inside, the matatu is equipped with 26 custom bucket seats, each featuring a cup holder and charging port.

Additionally, Mood comes fully air-conditioned, a rare feature in Nairobi’s public transport vehicles, breaking away from the often stuffy and congested matatu rides.

Mood is equipped with a modern push-to-start ignition system, enhancing the driving experience and adding a touch of innovation to the cockpit

Similarly, Mood is powered by solar energy, a system that ensures continuous lighting and entertainment in the vehicle, even in the event of power outages.
