Blackout to affect parts of 11 counties on Tuesday, February 10

Kenya Power has announced that parts of 11 counties will experience planned power outages on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

In its daily notice, on Monday, February 9, 2026, the utility said scheduled outages will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, allowing technicians to carry out essential maintenance, system upgrades, and network checks.

Nairobi and North Rift

In Nairobi, residents in parts of Karen and Langata, including Muir Road, CITAM, Njumba Moja Road, Bomas of Kenya, Forest Edge Road, Mukoyet East, and surrounding areas, will experience temporary power loss.

The North Rift region will also be impacted, with outages affecting Murkwuit, Tartar, and adjacent communities in Trans Nzoia County.

Western and South Nyanza

Kakamega County in Western Kenya will see interruptions in Kaburengu, Chimo, Manda, Luandet, Chekalini, and surrounding areas.

In South Nyanza, residents in Kisii County (Ogembe Town, Nyaburumbasi, Ikoba) and Migori County (Kokuro, Gamba, Nyamatamba) will also be affected.

Homa Bay County areas, including Maleala, Ogongo, and Nyatoto, will face similar temporary outages.

Mount Kenya and North Eastern

In Mount Kenya, Nyeri County areas such as Maganjo, Gakindu, Wahundura, and nearby communities will experience planned interruptions, while parts of Kirinyaga County, including Kutus Town and Ahiti Domba, are also affected.

In Kiambu County, Wangige and Gathiga residents are scheduled for temporary power cuts.

Coast Region

The Coast region is heavily affected, with Kwale County areas including Mshiu, Lunga Lunga, Horohoro, Msambweni, and Sawa Sawa Beach experiencing outages.

Parts of Mombasa County, including Spaki and Swale Nguru Road, will also be without power.

The exercise aims to enhance electricity reliability and prevent unplanned disruptions for residents and businesses.

“Good evening. Please find below the list of areas scheduled for planned maintenance tomorrow (10.02.2026),” the company stated.

The utility emphasised that the scheduled maintenance is crucial to ensuring a reliable electricity supply and preventing sudden disruptions that could affect homes, workplaces, and essential services.
