Aisha Jumwa’s mother has died

Former Cabinet Secretary and Malindi Member of Parliament (MP) Aisha Jumwa is mourning the death of her mother, Sidi Karisa.

In a statement released on Sunday evening, December 28, 2025, she announced with deep sorrow the passing of their beloved matriarch, who died after a short illness.

“Kwa masikitiko makubwa na unyenyekevu wa moyo, tunatangaza kufariki kwa mama yetu mpendwa, Sidi Karisa, aliyefariki leo baada ya kuugua kwa muda mfupi.

Loosely interpreted as:

“It is with deep sorrow and humility that we announce the passing of our mother, Sidi Karisa, who died after suffering a short illness,” she announced.

The family described the late Sidi Karisa as the pillar and heart of the family, noting that she touched many lives through her love, kindness, humility, and strong moral values.

“Mama alikuwa kielelezo, nguzo na moyo wa familia yetu. Aliwagusa wengi kwa upendo, wema, utu na mlahaka mwema. Kumbukumbu yake itaendelea kuishi milele mioyoni mwetu.”

Loosely interpreted as:

“Our mother was the guide, pillar, and heart of our family. She touched many lives with her love, kindness, humanity, and wise counsel. Her memories will forever remain in our hearts,” she added.

She later announced that the burial will take place on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 4.00 pm at the family home in Takaungu, Mnarani Ward, Kilifi North Constituency, Kilifi County.

“Tunaawarifu umma kwamba mazishi ya mama yetu mpendwa yatafanyika kesho saa kumi jioni (alasiri) nyumbani Takaungu, Wadi ya Mnarani, katika eneo Bunge la Kilifi Kaskazini, Kilifi Kaunti.”

“We wish to inform the public that the burial of our beloved mother will take place tomorrow at 4:00 pm at the family home in Takaungu, Mnarani Ward, Kilifi North Constituency, Kilifi County. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” she added.
