4 apprehended in coast as DCI recovers drugs and fraudulent land papers

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has apprehended four persons of interest in a series of coordinated operations along the Coast, targeting narcotics and fraudulent land-related activities.

In an X statement on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the unit reported that the arrests follow credible intelligence and form part of ongoing efforts to protect residents and uphold the law.

“An ongoing operation to flush out criminal gangs in the Coast region continues to bear fruit following the arrest of three more suspected criminals and the recovery of forged land-related documents, drugs, and ammunition.”The agency said.

The DCI noted that officers worked across several coastal towns to ensure the safety and security of residents. During the searches, the agency reported recovering packages of suspected cannabis sativa, a white powdery substance believed to be narcotics, ammunition, and forged land-related documents.

Cash in various denominations, linked to unlawful activity, was also seized. The agency confirmed that the four persons of interest are assisting investigators as inquiries continue.

The investigative unit highlighted that tackling substance abuse, fraudulent land dealings, and other illicit activities remains a top priority.

Similar operation

The operation comes a day after three persons of interest were arrested in the Coast region during coordinated raids by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) targeting illegal drugs.

The Anti-Narcotics Unit (Coast Region), in collaboration with the DCI’s Operation Support Unit, conducted the raids based on credible intelligence.

In Kisimani, officers recovered a whitish powdery substance believed to be narcotics along with several unserviceable mobile phones. The suspect was taken into custody at Bamburi Police Station, and the items are pending forensic analysis.

In Majaoni, Shanzu, detectives recovered loose dry plant material suspected to be drugs, 21 sachets of similar material, and KSh 3,700 in cash from a rental house. The suspect is also in custody at Bamburi Police Station, awaiting further examination.

The DCI confirmed that both individuals and the recovered exhibits remain in custody pending further forensic analysis as investigations continue.
